Wine & Dine | Restaurant Lindenhofkeller

Feasting and drinking as the knights once did. Nowadays in an upscale ambience with culinary delicacies and the best wines on offer, only the medieval vaults remind us of what once was. Set in the flair of the old town, the Restaurant Lindenhofkeller is located in the heart of Zurich, directly under the picturesque Lindenhof.

In the 19th century, the first restaurant was set up in the old historical house. Since 1993 the family Hofer has been hosting the restaurant with great culinary skills, which attract business people, tourists and wine lovers to the cozy Lindenhof cellar. René Hofer, who took over the business from his parents in 1999, has now set himself up so well, that the kitchen does not require his permanent presence. And he takes charming care of his guests. The culinary offer is a mixture of enchanting classics and exciting new creations. Not only the restaurant invites you to linger, but on warmer days also the garden restaurant in the inner courtyard.

We immediately felt very comfortable in the cozy and exclusive ambience of the Lindenhofkeller. Perfectly made for a discreet business lunch or a romantic dinner for two. The wine labels on the wall and the several empty wine bottles, which have been placed decoratively all over the room, show that wine lovers are at work here. The menu is classic and trenchant. Traditional dishes combined with modern influences. Meat and fish lovers will definitely not miss out here. The wine list reads like an old poem, because even wine rarities can be enjoyed here.

We decided to have a caramelized goat cheese mousse with quinoa salad and asparagus and a carpaccio of mountain braised beef cheeks with dressed tomato dices at first.

For the main course, we enjoyed the "Surf & Turf" Swiss Beef tenderloin and a half lobster tail, Thai sauce, glazed vegetables and potato-gratin and the recommended house speciality, which was roasted Swiss «Prime» rack of veal, made in the low temperature oven with Rösti as a side dish.

For dessert, we had a homemade mango tiramisu and a blood orange sorbet with white chocolate cream.

Everything tasted simply outstanding. Meat and fish, both perfectly prepared and seasoned. The house speciality lived up to their promises, served evenly pink and tender. The Rösti was small portioned, but made it up for by the taste. The desserts were also completely convincing. A simply dignified evening.

The Lindenhofkeller is a traditional Zurich restaurant with an excellent cuisine and a huge selection of wines. A true oasis for connoisseurs and gourmets. René Hofer provides a charming service as a passionate chef and wine lover. He will be happy to advise you on the right wine selection for your chosen dish. Real hospitality paired with culinary highlights.
