Brunch o'clock | Babu's Bakery & Coffeehouse

It was another weekend, which meant it was time for another Zurich brunch adventure! It was a beautiful Sunday morning, as we headed to Babu's Bakery & Coffeehouse to try out one of the most popular brunch spots in Zurich. The waiting line stretched to in front of the building – and we already knew: this must be a hot spot.

We'll be honest to say, that personally our expectations we're quite high... When you've been as ostentatiously exploring Zurich's brunch scene as much as we have, the bar is set quite high. And just like with any brunch place we choose to visit there's a bit of research to be had, who are they, where did they come from and WHAT IS ON THE MENU?

From the outside looking in, we already saw a cute interior with gorgeous details and lots of sweets, e.g. cheese cake, chocolate cake, raspberry slices, Belgian waffles which were lovely dished up at the counter (music to our ears).

After a warm and hearty welcome, we took a quick look at the menu and noticed: they offer a bit of everything in here, something sweet, savory, veggie friendly – and above all: mouth-watering! We quickly made our final menu decisions and ordered an assortment of some dishes (and we're soo glad we did):

Fresh homemade "Rösti" with bacon, Blueberry Pancakes with maple syrup, an Açai-Bowl with Açai-power berries from the Amazon, banana, apple, guarana and granola and a tasty Avocado-Bagel.

…and how did we start our brunch properly? Damn right, with a freshly squeezed Smoothie! We went for the Yellow- and Berry-Smoothie and not only were they super tasty but also gave us a little vitamin boost. Yup – we were ready for our food after that!

The focus at Babu's is not only on the fresh juices but on the coffee creations that are prepared "with much love" – of course we also tried one of them and ordered two cappuccino's and truly felt the love in there. So good.

When the food arrived, the room went silent...but only for a matter of seconds it quickly turned into oo's and aa's of our food selection. The True Showstopper though, were the Blueberry Pancakes with maple syrup. We would be lying if we didn't tell you that this dish alone may have inspired todays blogpost. The pancakes arrived fluffy and golden brown at our table and first question we had to ask ourselves: Is it really worth the calories? YES, YES, YES.

Next up: The freshly prepared, homemade Rösti with bacon and eggs sunny side up – you can’t go wrong with this one. So simple but yet so delicious!

We couldn’t resist and had to try their famous Açai-Bowl as well and it didn't only look stunning, it’s healthy…and incredibly enjoyable!

Last but not least we went for the Avocado Bagel, which convinced us too. If you love bagels as much as we do, then the Avocado Bagel is a heavenly treat.
