The images of the outdoor pool with its spectacular view are well-known and widely spread on social media around the world. The famous Villa Honegg is breathtakingly situated on the Bürgenstock with a view over Lake Lucerne and the Alps. It offers a unique five-star service, a luxurious spa area and the most stunning view of the mountains and nearby Lucerne.
The hotel also offers a culinary experience in the hotel's own restaurant, which is stylishly and modernly furnished. When the weather is fine, you can enjoy your food on their sun terrace with a breathtaking view. The cuisine is awarded 14 Gault-Millau points and spoils you with dishes made from regional and seasonal products. Villa Honegg obtains a large part of its agricultural produce, such as milk and cheese, directly from the surrounding area from local farms on Honegg.
The focus is clearly on regionally inspired dishes, but the varied menu also offers oriental influences like the starter we enjoyed called Honegg Mezzeh, which includes hummus, baba ganoush, plain yoghurt, muhammara, two different salads and warm pita bread. In contrast, we also enjoyed a regional starter, which consisted of Norwegian salmon smoked in Beckenried with capers, pickled vegetables, Swiss organic horseradish cream-cheese and toast. Both dishes were tasty and especially the salmon dish was visually convincing too.
For the main course we tried handmade ravioli with apple slices, crispy onions and "Birgäbärger" Riesling foam as well as an Angus entrecôte medallion from a local butcher with red onion confit, homemade French fries and glazed vegetables. These dishes also convinced us in terms of taste and size.
