The Pizzeria Ristorante Molino in the lively and colourful district 5 of Zurich shines in a new light. The fresh look impresses with both modern, urban design and traditional Italian elements.
The new interior design, with great attention to detail, lets you wander into the distance and reminisce about your last holiday in Italy. The heart of the restaurant is the prominently placed, brass-enclosed pizza oven, which is clearly visible to all guests. In combination with the open, bright room concept and high-quality materials such as marble, wood and leather, a warm, hospitable atmosphere is created.
Molino delights its guests with crispy pizzas, the finest pasta creations, traditional fish and meat dishes, deliciously seductive dolci and excellent wine expertise. Italian coffee enjoyment, whether "al banco", to take away or after an extensive meal, as well as a large selection of sweet temptations, round off the offer. At lunch time, you can enjoy two daily changing lunch menus as well as seasonal specialities.
We started with a classic bruschette and an octopus salad with potatoes, tomatoes and rocket salad. The dishes came in generously portions and tasted delicious.
For the main course, we ordered penne all’abruzzese with tomato sauce and beef strips as well as pizza Miss Italia with prosciutto, tomatoes, mozzarella, rocket salad, parmesan, truffle oil and oregano.
Here too, the portions were rather big. In terms of taste, the pasta dish could not fully convince us, the certain something was missing. However, this is probably a matter of taste, as the ingredients were fresh and of good quality.
The pizza on the other hand was really tasty and the dough was super airy. That's probably because they allow their pizza dough a 48-hour resting time. This above-average rest period makes their dough much lighter, airier and more digestible. They also offer a "weekly special" pizza to make sure it never gets boring.
What would a visit to an Italian restaurant be without a sweet finish? Right, not very authentic. That is why we decided to have one of their homemade Dolcezze - and guess what, we did not regret it. This was one of the best and fluffiest Tiramisù we have had in a long time.
The philosophy - authentic Italianità per tutti - with which Molino has been writing its success story for almost 30 years, is also being upheld in the multicultural district 5. The design concept is warm and inviting and authentic recipes with carefully selected products ensure that a lot of Italianità is served.
