Nowadays, you can have a brunch at any given place in the heart of Zurich but most of those places are overcrowded and busy. Only a few restaurants with a predestined location can also offer a relaxed and cosy brunch experience. One of the most beautiful brunch location is for sure the Milchbar - a stunning brunch oasis in one of the most idyllic inner courtyards of the city of Zurich.

The Milchbar is located at the Zentralhof and is surrounded by Paradeplatz and Münsterhof. It is considered as one of Zurich's oldest cafés and has spoiled guests for decades with finest baked goods, fresh milk and finest roasted coffee. After 34 years of success, the venerable Milchbar was taken over by the Péclard-Group and extensively renovated. Today the beautiful Milchbar shines in new splendour and offers one of the best coffees in town, exclusive delicacies to take away or enjoy on the spot, market-fresh, warm dishes and selected wines from the in-house wine shop.

Every Sunday the Milchbar becomes a true brunch paradise where you can enjoy selected specialties under beautiful arcades, amidst old trees and with a calming splatter from the imposing fountain, which forms the heart of this wonderful area.

Besides the excellent coffee, which is produced in cooperation with a local small roastery, they serve an extensive brunch buffet including wonderful bread and “Zopf”, local cheese, homemade jam, fine cold cuts and salmon, fresh fruits and cereals. Egg dishes are prepared directly in their open kitchen upon your request. Various coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice as well as the in-house champagne is available à discrétion to toast again and again, in what is probably the most relaxed way to spend a wonderful Sunday. Finest pastries from the Conditorei Péclard round off this great brunch buffet.

We fell in love with this fantastic location in the middle of the city. A great brunch with high quality products, embedded in a picturesque inner courtyard, quiet, relaxed and detached from the rush of the city. A place to relax, enjoy and unwind. The extremely courteous staff, endless coffee, juice and champagne enjoyment at an incredibly fair price, give the Milchbar a well-deserved place in the pole position of the best brunch places in Zurich – and whoever likes it as much as we did, can stay right away in the unique and one and only hotel room directly above the Milchbar. A must see!
