French Baking & Brunch | Kocheria
Bonjour! This time we are not blogging about a restaurant. This blog post is about the KOCHERIA! Some of you may already know Laz from "Laz uns Kochen"; he's no stranger to the Zurich cooking scene and we're very enthusiastic about his talent, his lively and upbeat manner and his Greek charm. In May 2021 Laz opened the Kocheria at Hohlstrasse 356. The Kocheria offers an unforgettable experience with their cooking classes and events. The Kocheria is made for food lovers and people who like to learn how to cook in smallish groups and spend a day / evening together. During the cooking classes at the Kocheria you can meet new people, learn more about different cultures and just have lots of fun!
Kocheria's cooking classes are unique. Laz and his team always come up with cool themes and surprise with amazing courses. Especially during the pandemic, people had to stand at the stove themselves more often again, and sadly we couldn't test restaurants as often either. We were excited to be part of the course "French Baking & Brunch" and to lend a hand ourselves.
We always wanted to make our own French pastries but had no idea how to do so. During the course Laz showed us how to make the traditional specialties of French pastry. In this workshop, Laz explained all the basics and we were able to make delicacies such as “Pate à Choux”, Variations of “Eclairs”, “Profiteroles” and “Craquelin”.
At the beginning of the course, we thought that we wouldn’t be able to do this as the sweets are rather demanding, but thanks to Laz's help and the cool cooperation with the other group members, we managed to do it! The pastries not only looked fantastic; but also tasted amazing.
In addition, we prepared delicious “Croque Monsieur” and “Croque Madame”. But Laz' version has it all. This dish completely blew us away. So good and so simple. Our new Sunday favorite.
The course was a complete success. We met great people and learned a lot of new things. Now we can not only spoil ourselves with our new, French baking skills but also our friends and family. Do you also want to learn how to prepare French pastry? Or would you rather learn how to cook Greek food? Turkish? Or a trip through Latin America? Laz offers many different cooking courses that you should definitely check out. Our tip: The courses are popular, so you should book sooner than later!
