Above the clouds | HAUTE

On our hunt for the best Fine Dining Experiences in Zurich we came across the well-known member restaurant HAUTE. More than fifteen years ago, HAUTE opened its doors high above the clouds of Zurich, in the high-rise building zur Schanze. The view from up there is just breathtaking, you can see the Prime Tower, the Fraumünster and the beautiful Lake Zurich. A panoramic view of our stunning city combined with an extraordinary dining experience, what more could one ask for?

The HAUTE is the perfect place to kick off any kind of event in a stylish atmosphere together with first-class cuisine. The unique atmosphere provides an ideal setting for business and private meetings and is exclusively accessible to its members and their companions. How to become a member? Click here.

During our visit, we immediately noticed that the guest is king here. The service was extremely attentive. After enjoying a drink in the bar on the 13th floor, we were taken to the restaurant on the 14th floor and were again stunned by the breathtaking view.

We were placed at one of the white covered tables directly at the window front.

Our dining experience started with a truffle/parmesan inspired amuse-bouche. The amuse bouche was incredibly tasty and we could have had another one right away because we loved it so much.

As a starter, we tried the beetroot ravioli with hazelnut, ricotta and purslane as well as the pickled char with turnip, quince and dill. Both dishes were beautifully served and especially the beetroot ravioli had an incredible presence due to its colourful presentation. In terms of taste, both dishes more than convinced us - they were simply excellent.

The main course continued with a cave-matured veal chop with parsnip, king oyster mushrooms and a nut hollandaise as well as a Swiss dry-aged prime beef fillet by Hatecke with sunchoke, mushrooms and grapefruit. The dishes were simply but wonderfully presented and the first bite confirmed what we had already seen: the meat was cooked to perfection and very tender. The fine taste of the veal chop with the extremely creamy and nutty hollandaise blew us away. The sweet addition of grapefruit to the dry-aged beef was also a perfect match.

As you know, we never say no to dessert. We couldn't help ourselves and ordered the baked apple mille-feuille with mascarpone and the variation of mandarin cheesecake. The mille-feuille was wafer-thin, just like it should be. A wonderful combination with mascarpone, which made it to one of our favourite mille-feuilles ever. The mandarin cheesecake was not served as a typical piece of cake as one is used to. It was a self-interpretation with a fluffy mousse and mandarin pieces. A heavenly dessert, eating it while sitting above the clouds was just a dream.

The HAUTE has not only persuaded us with its extremely attentive service but also great importance is attached to superior ingredients. The dreamy view is the cherry on the cake. The dining experience here takes you to the next level - or straight to food heaven as we would say.
